What happens on the first visit?
Initially, we will take a history of the condition followed by an examination and do further testing if necessary. At that time a differential diagnosis and definitive diagnosis will be made. A decision will be made on the most appropriate and effective treatment for your condition. Treatment will be monitored for effectiveness and revisions and treatment protocol may be made depending on the patient's response to care. Historically you will be treated on the first visit at this office.

How do you decide which treatment will be best for me?
Examination findings, history and past experience will dictate which approach will be the most effective in confronting your needs. A multidimensional approach will ensure that the best treatment possible will be administered. The great advantage to a multidisciplinary approach is utilizing several different viewpoints in analyzing and assessing the situation. Through the eyes of the doctor, if you are not looking for it you probably won't find it. There are days in the clinical setting in which acupuncture is very rarely used and there are other times when it is extensively used. Whether it's chiropractic, nutritional intervention, acupuncture etc. it is all based on a patient's need and the prediction of what will work best for the patient taking into consideration past clinical experience.

Why have you incorporated more than just chiropractic into your clinic?
We utilize different procedures at this office because the application of these different procedures decrease healing time and expense to you in the long-term. Your condition dictates what procedures we perform. We avoid trying to stick a square peg in a round hole. Everyone is different and the treatment plan is tailored to your specific healthcare needs based on examination findings and clinical experience. Approximately 15 to 20% of the people that we care for at this office have complicated conditions which require further intervention than just specific chiropractic adjustments alone. Many patients have experienced an increased success rate in clinical outcomes based on this concept. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. There has never been a more perfect marriage between two schools of thought when considering chiropractic and energetic medicine.

What are some of your favorite conditions that you utilize energetic medicine/acupuncture for in your office?
We have successfully treated sports injuries such as groin and hamstring strains, sprained ankles, shoulder injuries etc.. Our definition of successfully treated is accelerating the healing process, decreasing the time of recovery and discomfort dramatically when compared to traditional approaches. The easiest way to answer this question is. IF YOU CAN PUT YOUR FINGER ON THE AREA OF PAIN AND SAY "THIS IS WHERE IT HURTS" ANYWHERE ON THE BODY WALL, ARMS, LEGS ETC. WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT CHANCE OF ELIMINATING THAT PAIN WITH THE PROCEDURES THAT WE UTILIZE THAT THIS OFFICE. No matter how that pain got there, whether a sports injury, postoperative pain, chronic or acute pain in which you have no idea how it got there, you, as the patient have an excellent chance we can eliminate it.

If I am currently being treated by another practitioner, can I seek additional services/second opinion at your office?

Yes!  We have numerous established patients from other professional offices that seek our expertise.

I  just had surgery, are there any techniques that you utilize that may help in my recovery process?

Absolutely!  We have several types of techniques that we utilize that will help in post surgical pain concerning shoulder, hand, knee, foot etc..  These techniques are extremely effective, we do not have to contact the surgical incision directly and helps accelerate  soft tissue healing and reduction of pain.

What about fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is an extremely difficult condition to treat.  It cannot be detected by laboratory or other tangible medical tests.  It is basically diagnosed with subjective signs of pain on pressure over 18 specific diagnostic points in which 11 must be tender in order to fit the criteria for a fibromyalgia diagnosis in conjunction with other symptoms.  We do treat people with fibromyalgia, we have not been able to totally eliminate the symptoms.  However, we have been able to afford relief.  Realistically, we have the capability to improve the symptoms from 30 to 60% as reported subjectively by patients.  I am not aware of any medical or alternative treatment that has totally resolved fibromyalgia.

How much will it cost to receive care at your office?

There is no set flat fee associated with care at this office.  It is totally dependent upon procedures necessary to take care of the clinical picture.  Headaches, lower back pain, ankle pain, tennis elbow vary dramatically in examination and procedure protocol which affect the cost of initial and subsequent treatment.  It is very difficult to predict cost over the phone without an initial history and examination.  First-time visits can vary anywhere from $45-$150 depending upon the situation.  One thing is certain, we will perform only that which is necessary to resolve the problem with the least amount of expense realized by the patient.  The bottom line is, we depend on clinical results and satisfied patients to generate word-of-mouth referrals.  This minimizes extensive overhead in advertising so we can provide our service at the lowest possible cost.

Will I have to keep coming back?

Depending on response to care, follow-up visits may be necessary.  Once again, it depends upon the clinical situation and your response to care.  Patients may require anywhere from one to three visits in order to resolve the situation and others with more chronic stubborn situations will require more care.  Patients are released every day from our office and there is always phone activity to replace them which leads to a stress free practice for the doctors and patients alike.  Our clinic has earned a reputation in which established patients have no apprehension about calling our office with new conditions knowing full well the condition will be resolved in a relatively short period of time.  Our goal is to play what we equate to as CHIROPRACTIC GOLF.  In other words, THE LOWEST SCORE WINS!  Lowest number of treatments and lowest cost equals happy patients that trust our clinical decisions, refer friends and family and have no apprehension contacting our office when new troubles arise.  More than likely, you are visiting this web site right now because of a referral from a friend or family member that is pleased with care they have received at this office.

Will you refer me if you cannot help my condition?

Yes!  Through the years we have established a very good working relationship with the majority of the medical establishment and we will not hesitate to refer you.  Some of our best referring patients are those that required a referral out of this office in their best interest.  It does our reputation absolutely no good accepting a condition that we will not be successful in treating.

I am still experiencing chronic pain after knee surgery and rehabilitation, is there anything more that can be done?

There may or may not be more that can be done.  To answer this question and evaluation is necessary to predict if there can possibly be any further improvement.  Utilizing Euro Asian techniques give us an opportunity to evaluate and treat pain syndromes differently than with traditional treatment.  I chances are more can be done utilizing a different approach.  That same concept can be used for ankles, shoulders, elbows, lower back etc.

I am interested in acupuncture but I am afraid of needles.  Is there anything that can be done to avoid needle application?

Yes, approximately 80% of all acupuncture procedures performed at this office are without needles.  Just remember, acupuncture is a principal and not a technique.

What is the major concept of care that sets your clinic apart?

It's not just one concept that sets or clinic apart from others!  We avoid performing factory line work utilizing timers and stations.  Careful thought is incorporated into each and every procedure from evaluation and treatment applications which are very unique in the Grand Island area. The doctors are involved in all aspects of the evaluation and treatment.  Yes, it is more time-consuming.  Yes it requires more thought process and professional training when compared to applying a modality to an area pain.  The decrease in healing time and expense are well worth the extra professional training, time and effort which will ultimately lead to patient's satisfaction, positive clinical outcomes and word-of-mouth referral.
